Electro trance is a Trance subgenre influenced by Electro House that emerged in the early 2000s and was popularized in the mid and the late 2000s.... Mostly evolving from Tech Trance, electro trance keeps the traditional trance structure and percussion but replaces its typical rolling basslines into prominent, dirty saws from electro house. The tempo is usually between 125 and 135 BPM. The bass lines are distinguished by their rough tones and heavy, powerful, as well as buzzing bass. The rhythm is generally four on the floor, but can include syncopated and funky elements resembling Breakbeat. The vocoder is also incorporated sometimes. Despite it raw character, fusions with other subgenres like Uplifting Trance, Vocal Trance, and Progressive Trance are also common. Electro trance tracks generally have melodic breaks with layers of synthesizers and ethereal sound effects, followed by an explosion of energy at the drops.
Electro trance emerged as a reaction to uplifting trance that dominated the late 1990s and the early 2000s. Ferry Corsten was the pioneer of the genre, with the track "Punk", often considered one of the first electro trance tracks, although tracks resembling electro trance already existed in the '90s. The first electro trance tracks were also influenced by Electroclash. It became popular in the mid and the late 2000s thanks to the international success of electro house, with many trance artists incorporating its aggressive elements and powerful basslines into their tracks like Andy Moor, Super8 & Tab, Tritonal, Above & Beyond, Cosmic Gate, and Kyau & Albert. Although electro trance declined in the early 2010s, it paved the way for later subgenres such as Trance 2.0 (whose intros and outros are inspired by electro house and electro trance) and Big Room Trance.citește mai mult
